This directory contains fasta files and related statistics
for human genomic sequence in the ENCODE regions, for 
the July 2003 (UCSC hg16, NCBI Build 34) build of the human genome.
This build was defined as the initial reference build for
the ENCODE project in December 2003.

Note: these sequence files contain the primary as well
as the backup regions.  There are 44 primary regions
(30 randomly selected, and 14 manually selected),
plus 12 backup regions, which may be used if there
is a problem with a primary region.
